HAL, also known as Arai Haruka in real life meets Shinjou in a chatroom online who is under the alias KAKERU and becomes his online girlfriend. Due to an unfortunate turn of events the two eventually break up. Shortly afterwards she becomes a 'Pilot/Navigator', a member of a sub-division of F.I.L GATES which helps prevent crime and online scams.
