Asclepius used to be one of Athena's Saints in the distant past, in the Age of Myth. He was known as the Ophiuchus Gold Saint. Because of his huge power and healing abilities, at some point he became revered as a god in Sanctuary. Such high and honorable status made him want to become a real god, not just someone who is worshipped as one. His immense arrogance in how he, as a mortal, wanted to become a real deity, infuriated the actual gods. As a punishment, Asclepius body was destroyed, and his soul was sealed by Athena in the well leading to the depths of Tartarus. All evidence of his existence was wiped out of existence, making the tale about "the Thirteenth Gold Saint" a legend known by only a few. In the 18th century, due to anomalies caused by time travelers from the 20th century appearing in the past, his sealed prison weakened, allowing him to act outside of it. He decided to possess one day Odysseus, an honorable and respected Saint, and, with his legendary Gold Cloth brought back, to try to achieve what he couldn't achieve in the Age of Myth and get his revenge on Athena.
