Hiroyuki is Takashi's younger brother. He is a 20-year-old college student who likes to have fun and doesn't concern himself much with issues on a societal scale, nor does he understand why his brother would isolate himself in spite of his intellect. After Takashi commits suicide and the Death Sweepers company is called in for cleaning, Hiroyuki decides to work there part-time in order to process his grief. Although he feels overwhelmed and unprepared at first, Hiroyuki gradually becomes accustomed to death scenes and begins thinking about how society handles death.
