Colette was outcast from her village after being accused of being a witch for surviving Demon Beast assaults that would kill everyone near her. As a result, she grew a warped belief that she was a witch and tried to perform rituals to become one. In actuality, it turned out that she was unconsciously behind the killings as she'd come under the possession of a Meteor that transformed her into a beast.
