One of the other medicine sellers at Nanakusaya. He'sw close friends with both Torakichi and Chiharu as they worked at the store since they were young teenagers. He's the youngest of the three and used to be the shortest. His round face and glasses make him look like a bookish and reserved character at first, but in fact he's single-minded and boorish. He likes to eat, this coupled with medicine men being on the move constantly led to him growing tall and broad-shouldered. He has a crush on the Nanakusaya madam.
